Itinerary
Three days, three distinct habitats — savannah and wetland, indigenous forest, and open plains.
A full day in Nairobi National Park, just minutes from the city centre. We work the open grasslands, the dams and wetlands, and the riverine forest along the park’s southern edge — a mix of habitats that makes this one of the best city-edge birding sites in the world. Picnic lunch in the park.
A morning on foot in the indigenous forest of Ngong, targeting forest species that are hard to find elsewhere around Nairobi. Afternoon free for rest, or an optional extra session at a nearby wetland or garden site.
An early start on the open plains around Athi River for dry-country birds, larks and raptors, before returning to your Nairobi hotel in the afternoon with a full checklist.
